Rio de Janeiro —
Bosnia and Herzegovinahas saved the honour in the last group match of
World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The
soccer team, World Cup rookie, was already eliminated.
The team of soccer star Edin Dzeko beat
Iran: 3-1. The Asian soccer team could have go through to the second round with a victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, but were inferior today compared to the team of Europe.
In the 23th minute, Dzeko scored his first goal ever in a World Cup.
Actually, the star player of Manchester City also scored against Nigeria, but that goal was disallowed injustly.
Now that ruled out goal seems to have become fatal for the Bosnian soccer team. Shortly after Dzeko's disallowed goal for being supposedly offside, the Africans scored the winning goal.
Nevertheless, in the final group match in Salvador, Bosnia eventually scored three goals and leaves World Cup 2014 with heads held high. Except Dzeko, also Miralem Pjanic and Avdija Vrsajevic scored (in the 59th and 83rd minute respectively). Reza Ghoochannejhad scored on behalf of Iran, a minute before Vrsajevic's 3-1.
Both Bosnia and Herzegovina are eliminated from World Cup 2014.
Group Fwinner Argentina and runner-up Nigeria are through to the second round.
