Rio de Janeiro — After a unsatisfying start, the
soccer team of Brazilafter all concluded the group stage of
World Cup Soccer 2014with compelling figures. In capital city Brasilia, the team of
coach Felipe Scolaridefeated the poor soccer team of Cameroon with a 4-1 final score.
Next Saturday, as
group winner of Group A, A Seleção will meet Chile, second of Group B, in the second round. Mexico concluded Group A as second and will play on Sunday against The Netherlands.
3-1: Happy Fred!
So far Neymar, the only real star of the current national soccer team of Brasil, is dealing fine with the great pressure put on his small shoulders by an entire soccer mad nation.
In the new national stadium in Brasilia, the 22-year-old superstar of FC Barcelona excelled in the first half of the final match in Group A.
Neymarwas given a chance and twice he scored for Brasil.
In between, the Brazilian soccer fans were shocked of the Cameroonian equalizer of Joel Matip.
After half-time, Brasil proved to be too good for the soccer team of Cameroon, which was already out of the World Cup tournament. David Luiz served centre forward Fred, who finally could score his first goal of World Cup 2014; he was very pleased to say the least. After 84 minutes, Fernandinho scored the fourth Brazilian goal and decided the final score: 4-1: Team Brazil, together with Mexico, in the second round.
Chile will be worried about the second round match against Brasil, because in 1998 (4-1) and 2010 (3-0), the Chilean team was beaten in the second round by... Brasil!
