Safety monitor - Brasilia
Brasilia is considered a relatively safe city; just stick to the general advise given by the link below. There are some danger zones in the metropolitan area though, but not in the parts the foreign visitor usually moves around (yes, the ‘airplane’ that is).
However, some things to keep in mind:
• Better not walking in deserted parts of the Monumental Axis at night and around the rodoviária (central bus station).
• If driving a car be on guard, especially when it is dark. Some cases of carjacking and kidnapping have occurred. Avoid poorly lit parking lots and when you want to park, do not stop immediately but screen your surroundings first. Also, when getting in the car always have your key at the ready, which allows you to enter the vehicle as fast as possible.
