Carnival 2017 in Rio de Janeiro

to the fullest. The blocos mentioned are considered as relatively safe and perfect for the Rio Carnaval novice. Note: offical hours are mentioned but ususally a bloco starts an hour or so late.

Saturday 25 February, 2017:

9.30 am Cordao de Bola Preta, bloco in Cinelandia (Centro)

4 pm

Banda de Ipanema

, bloco in Ipanema

After the second bloco you should go to
Ipanema beach
to see how the beach party arises.

Sunday 26 February, 2017:

Carnival, Samba Parade, Rio de Janeiro
  11 am Laranja Samba Clube, bloco in Laranjeiras

5 pm Imperio da Folia, bloco in Catete

In the evening you should visit the Sambódromo to see a few
samba schools at the official Samba parade
(doors are open between about 8 pm and 6 am).

Monday 27 February, 2017:

10 am Bloco de Sargento Pimenta, bloco in Flamengo

Afterwards you should go to
Copacabana
to join a few smaller blocos or enjoy a few drinks at the local bars.

Later on you may attend one of the many masquerade balls. If you missed it last night, you can also watch the offical Samba Parade in the Sambódromo.

Tuesday 28 February, 2017:

4 pm Banda de Ipanema, bloco in Ipanema

Afterwards you go to the beach to conclude your Carnival 2017 experience in Rio de Janeiro, cold caipirinha in hand and big smile on face...
